Once again, congratulations on auditioning for the 2021-2022 GHS A Cappella Program! I continue to marvel at the level of commitment that our students show each year.
I want to remind you what we talked about throughout this process:
Although there are many talented students auditioning this year (including past members, who must re-audition), there are a limited number of available positions in the program.
Competition is very high. Not being selected does not, in any way, indicate a lack of valuable musical talent.
Being part of a group, or not being part of a group, is not a statement on your individual ability, talent, or future in music. Singers who are part of a small singing ensemble must be able to blend and balance each other’s vocal timbre, and this is not often something an individual can control. Also, please remember when applying or auditioning for ANYTHING - be willing to accept the “yes” and the “no” equally. Look for the opportunity to grow and for the experience you gain, not just the potential placement. Membership in any organization does not define who you are as a person, singer, or musician.
The results are listed below!
Please remember, you are welcome to request/schedule a conference with me for feedback and suggestions on improving your skills. Keep in mind that all paperwork, point totals and notes used in the selection process shall remain confidential and shall not be released to any student, parent or staff member. No paperwork, recommendations or evaluations will be kept after the final selection has been made.
Auditioning is a tough process, and one where you put yourself on display for all to see. Having the courage to step out is tough! But...YOU DID IT!!! Please take time to congratulate yourself AND your peers! Celebrate and encourage everyone!! We are stronger when we intentionally seek to live like this!
All the best,
GHS Ensemble is a group of auditioned singers who are enrolled both in concert choir as well as Ensemble. We meet outside the school day, once per week, for an extended rehearsal. Our size ranges each year, with our goal being one singer per voice part. We focus primarily on A Cappella music (traditional and contemporary), which is presented in May at the Spring Show. Ensemble enjoys attending a cappella festivals throughout the year where we learn more about performing. During the holidays, Ensemble is available for community outreach performances. If interested in hosting a performance, please contact our director for more information.
Fermata Nowhere was formed in 2016 and is an extra curricular A Cappella Group. The singers in this group are also part of the GHS concert choirs. These treble singers meet after school for 90 minutes each week. Throughout the school year, this group is preparing music for the a cappella festivals we attend. Our year is culminated with a performance at the Spring Show in May. If you are interested in having Fermata Nowhere perform for one of your community events, please contact our director.
The 2019-2020 school year was the first year for this group. It was created to compliment the GHS female A Cappella group, Fermata Nowhere. Members are part of the GHS Vocal and/or Instrumental Music Programs. These students will meet outside of the school day, will attend a cappella festivals, and will also perform on concerts , including the Spring Show. We are excited to see what they add to the GHS Vocal Music Family!
